STATEMENT BY MR CORDELL HULL AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY HELPED WASHINGTON, July 31. The Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, in a statement today, said that reciprocal agreements had not benefited American industry, but had brought about substantial increases in exports of agricultural products. He referred particularly to the 25 per cent increase during the first six months of 1938 compared with a similar period of 1937. Mr Hull stressed the growing importance of reciprocal agreements during the years when there was a crop surplus.
