CATHEDRAL FUND

SUPPORT FROM WAIRARAPA. £1650 PROMISED IN MASTERTON. “It is not fair that a Methodist should give us £l,OOO towards our Anglican Cathedral and that we should sit back and give £5,” declared the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland when speaking in support of the Wellington Anglican Cathedral Fund last night. Enthusiasm, he added, would not build the cathedral unless it also opened the pockets of the people. Passing on to refer to the money already received or promised, the Bishop said that £3OO had been promised from Greytown and four individuals in Carterton had promised £675. Mr W. Howard Booth had said: “I will give you £500.” To date in the Masterton parish, added the Bishop, some £1650 had been promised towards the Cathedral Fund.
