Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.10. Shade temperature: Maximum 46.8, minimum 28.6, terrestrial 22. Sunshine, 5 hours 18 minutes. Frost, 8.4 degrees. General situation: A depression crossed the northern part of the Auckland Peninsula this morning, pressure is rather lower in the south late yesterday but has risen considerably over Tasmania. Forecast: Moderate southeasterly to southerly winds, freshening at times; weather changeable, with passing showers and at times hail about and east of the ranges but mainly fair to the west; temperatures cold. SOLWAY RAINFALL FOR JULY. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 21 days in July. The maximum fall was 73 points, on the 22nd, and the minimum 1 point on the Bth_ The total for the month was 3.80 inches, as against 4.53 (1937), 4.77 (1936), 5.69 (1935), 3.62 (1934), 4.03 (1933), and the average for 35 years. 4.18 inches. The total rainfall for the past seven months has been 29.00 inches, as compared with 21.57 (1937), 29.67 C 1936), 24.70 (1935), 23.08 (1934), 22.30 (1933), the average for 35 years being 2 3.46 inches.
