FEATHERSTON
CHILDREN ENTERTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Last Friday night the ladies’ committee of the. local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association entertained about 60 children of ex-servicemen in the Anzac Hall to a tea party. During the evening Mr H. Lawson (president), bn behalf of his committee, presented Mrs Charlie Rae with a suitable gift in appreciation of her efforts in connection with the management of the supper arrangements at the ball on-Thursday night. Little Patsy Halpin, daughter of the secretary, handed the gift to Mrs Rae. In returning thanks Mr Rae said that she greatly appreciated the action of the committee, and stated that she wished not to take all the credit herself, as she had had a splendid committee of women to work with and each worker had done her share of work. She also expressed her thanks to the secretary, Mr J. Halpin, whom she said had given her every assistance. This pleasant little function ended with the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” R.S.A. BALL. The net takings at the R.S.A. Ball on Thursday night in the Anzac Hall amounted to over £7O.
