CHOLERA IN CHINA
LARGE SUPPLIES OF VACCINE NEEDED CO-OPERATION OF LEAGUE ENLISTED. WORLD-WIDE APPEAL. (League of Nations Official Wireless.) (Recd This Day, 12.7 p.m.) GENEVA, July 30. The Chinese Health Administration has requested the Secretary-General of the League (M. Jules Avenol) to assist in obtaining six million doses of cholera vaccine, owing to the rapid extension of the epidemic among the Chinese population. The Secretary-General, after ordering one million doses from the nearest bacteriological institute for immediate delivery, has asked for the collaboration of national institutes in the countries participating in the work of the Eastern Bureau of the League, Singapore, European and American institutions. The Singapore Bureau subsequently reports that important gifts of vaccine have been received to date.
