NEW YORK, July 29. In a Davis Cup match Quist defeated Hernandez (Mexico), 6/1, 7/5, 6/4. The Mexican simply was unable to volley or to handle ground.shots in a manner requisite for tournament play. Bromwich defeated Tapia, 6/4, 6/4, 6/4. Quist and Bromwich beat Hernandez and Tapia, 6/1, 6/0, 6/3.
JAPAN BEATS CANADA. MONTRREAL, July 30. Y. Yamagishi and F. Nakano (Japan) beat Wilson and Watt (Canada), 6/3, 3/6, 6/3, 7/5. in the Davis Cup tennis match. Nakano beat Murray, 6/4, 6/3, 6/0, and Yamagishi beat Cameron, who replaced Wilson, 6/4, 6/1, 6/0.
