CENTENARY CAMPAIGN

A public meeting will be held in the Opera House at 8 p.m. on Monday, August 1 to launch officially the Centenary Campaign for the erection of a national Cathedral in Wellington and to establish the Bishop’s Fighting Fund. The appeal for the Cathedral has caught the imagination of all sections of the community who realise the place such a building would occupy in the life of the nation. The Mayor (Mr T. Jordan) who is chairman of the Masterton Citizen’s Committee, will preside and speak and Bishop Holland, supported by a member of the Wellington Citizens’ Committee, will launch the campaign.
