Bread Standards.
Extension of the principle of standard weight and price for white bread to other classes of bread, particularly wholemeal bread, was supported by the annual conference of the Dominion Federation of Women’s Institutes in Wellington yesterday. The following resolution from the Titirangi Institute was adopted: “That ' the Minister of Health be asked to inquire into the types and prices. of bread offered for sale other than white, with the object of giving to the public wnolemeal bread of standard weight and price equal to that of white; and that no colouring matter be allowed in any bread as this is misleading; and that all brown loaves be labelled giving the amount of wholemeal or otherwise.” During the discussion it was pointed out that wholemeal bread could be of any weight and that the price was not under control?
