MAGISTRATE’S COURT

MONTHLY CARTERTON SITTING. Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at the monthly sitting of the Carterton Magistrate’s Court held yesterday. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: —G. Hughan Ltd v J. Burlling, claim £3 12s, costs 27s 6d; G. Vincent v J. E. Parrant, £B, costs 31s. In a judgment summons, R. N. Shaw was ordered to pay 12s 6d Court costs in default two days’ imprisonment. For -exceeding the speed limit of 30 miles an hour in a restricted area F. K. Malcolm and G. Humphrey were each fined £1 10s and 10s costs. C. J. Edwards, who was stated to have said that he was in a hurry to get to a hockey match at Masterton when the offence occurred, was convicted and fined £2 and 10s costs for exceeding 30 miles an hour.
