A fire in the Canadian Pacific Docks caused, damage estimated at 3,500,000 dollars. Heroic crews ran tugs through the flames, pulling three coastal steamerse from the blazing docks. Three tugs pulled the Empress of Russia, which was loading for the Orient, into the stream. Heavily stocked freight sheds under the docks were destroyed. Four firemen were hurled into the harbour by a gas explosion, being rescued by fishermen.
