QUICK KNOCK-OUT
YOUNG BOXER’S FORMIDABLE ATTACK. TITLE GAINED IN FIRST ROUND. SEATTLE, July 27. Al Hostak, of. Seattle, who two years ago was appearing as a boy in preliminary boxing bouts, caused a surprise by winning the middleweight boxing title against Fred Steele, whom he knocked out in the first round of a scheduled 15-round bout. The referee, Jack Dempsey, awarded the bout to Hostak after one minute 43 seconds. Steele went down three times under a savage two-handed barrage. On the third occasion he arose gamely at the count of seven, but the referee stepped between them and raised Hostak’s hand.
