Stout, S.M., today on six charges of false pretences. One of the attempted false pretences charges arose out of advertisements in newspapers offering a course of study in refrigerating and air conditioning and guaranteeing employment with National Air Conditioners. Ltd, and the Air Conditioning and Refrigerating Company Ltd, in regard to which evidence was given by an officer of the Stamp Duties Department that such companies were not registered at Hamilton or elsewhere, and the Hamilton police said there was no trace of them in Hamilton. Evidence was given in regard to the receipt, payment and publishing of the advertisements and Samuel Hall, of the P. and T. Department, an expert in handwriting, was called to give evidence in regard to the handwriting on certain documents produced.
