MAIN HIGHWAYS. Votes for the Wairarapa Main Highways district are: Construction, reconstruction, improvement, etc, £60,000 (expended last year, £40,360); renewal, £15,000 (£3,864); maintenance and repair, £48,000 (£38,523). OTHER VOTES. WAIPOUA RIVER IMPROVEMENT. Two votes appear in the land improvement section in connection with the Waipoua River, one of £l,lOO (£1 for £1) for protective works and bridge extension and another of £l2O (£1 for £1) for flood control. Included among the Post and Telegraph votes is an item of £5OO for a garage, store, etc, at Eketahuna.
