SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES

YOUNG FARM HAND BADLY INJURED. ACCIDENT AT RANGITUMAU. When he was helping to fell a tree on Mr H. J. W. Lord’s property at Rangitumau yesterday afternoon, a young farm hand, named James Gow, received serious head injuries and is now in hospital in a critical condition. With Mr Lord, the injured man had just chopped down a tree, which fell across a fence. After the branches had been chopped away, Mr Gow tried to shift the trunk off the fence before Mr Lord could assist him. He apparently slipped and the tree crashed on his head. He was immediately conveyed to the Masterton Hospital.'
