STOCK MARKET
DAIRY HERD SALE Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. report: We held a sale at the Hikorangi College, Clareville, yesterday, when we disposed of the dairy herd, brood sows and store pigs. The cows came forward in excellent condition, and in most cases had high butterfat records. Calving dates were also given out. We have to report a very good sale, and dairymen bid confidently throughout. The 10 top cows averaged £l3 16s; and the whole herd, including late calvers, and J-cows averaged £9 13s 6d, and with late calvers and unsound cows taken out, averaged £lO 17s. The 2-year heifers, which were a very select lot from the highest producing cows in the herd, made up £9 ss, and the lot averaged £8 15s. The heifer calves also met with animated competition, and made £4 19s. Pigs sold as under: Sows, with litters, £4 12s 6d to £6 10s. Sows r.w. boar, £4 5s to £4 15s, Porkers, £1 17s; Slips, £1 6s; Baconers £2 ss, Weaner pigs, 17s.
