CIVIL AIR GUARD POPULAR IN BRITAIN. FLYING CLUBS INUNDATED WITH INQUIRIES. (Recd This Day, 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 24. The announcement on Saturday of the formation of the Civil Air Guard resulted in inquiries inundating aeroplane clubs. A gliding club authority states that the scheme will enable people to glide at a few pence arp. hour. Many clubs are ordering machines and organising instructional staffs. Glider factories are preparing on large works, but aeroplane club, owing to the air expansion scheme absorbing British machines, must purchase light aircraft from America.
