WAR IN CHINA
NO CHANGE IN YANGTSE AREA. ACCORDING TO OFFICIAL REPORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Chinese Consul has received the following Hankow cablegram: —“There has been no change in the situation in the Yangtse River area during the last few days. “The enemy is continuing to reinforce its troops at Hukow, 2,000 reinforcements having arrived. “For the last few days we have vigorously attacked Pengtze, causing the enemy heavy Tosses and severing their connection with Hukow. On the north bank of the Yangtse River we have recaptured Wongkiang, opposite Matung. “In the south of Shansi we recaptured Yuanchr. ■ There is severe fighting at Homa and. Yichcng.”
