Blair, Wellington, is spending a few days with Mrs E. Staniforth, Essex Street, Masterton. Mrs K. Montgomery, of Pahiatua, and formerly of Masterton, was a week-end visitor to Masterton. Mr and Mrs C. W. McMillan, Renall Street, Masterton, left today for a holiday in Wellington. Miss Pauline Winter, of Palmerston North, was the guest of Mrs G. G. Hancox, of Masterton, over the week-end. Mrs Knightbridge, Hawera, and Mr and Mrs Hunt, Nelson, are staying with Mr and Mrs J. Ninnes, Masterton. Mrs J. Robertson, Wellington, and Mrs W. Lodder, Petone, are the guests of Mrs J. Woodhouse, Worksop Road, Masterton. ■ Mrs D. M. Graham has returned to Masterton after a visit to her daughter, Mrs R. T. St. Lawrence, at Haumoana, Hawke’s Bay. Mrs A. R. Bunny, of Masterton, and Miss H. Card, of Featherston, will be tha matrons of honour at the Charity Ball at Masterton on August 3. Sister Ockenden, who is severing her connection with the Greytown Hospital, was tendered a farewell party at the hospital on Friday evening. She was presented with a beautiful silver tea service from the staff to mark the esteem in which she was held. Sister Ockenden has been appointed matron of Pahiatua Hospital. At a meeting of the Wairarapa District Scout Committee, the District Commissioner (Mr N. C. C. Shepherd) paid a high tribute to the excellent service rendered to the Scout movement by Miss Rose H. Robinson, of Masterton. The committee unanimously decided to recommend Miss Robinson for a district cubmaster’s warrant.
