FEATHERSTON

KITCHEN AND PANTRY TEA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Anzac Hall was the scene of a gay gathering on Wednesday night when about 100 residents were present at a kitchen and pantry tea given for Miss Gladys Rae and Mr Frank Cole by Mrs E. Baker and Mrs H. Lowell. Unfortunately Miss Rae was not present owing to illness. Items were given by Misses Frazer and Saba (duet), and Miss A. Baker (tap dance)-. Mr Michael McMullen, of Masterton, also gave a tap dance, and in his encore number Miss Nora McMullen appeared also. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Bauche and Mr Cosey, of Eketahuna, and the Lucky Spot by Miss J. Lawson and G. Saba. Miss P. Cole was the winner of the lucky number. After supper Miss Card made a happy speech, apd expressed her regret at Miss Rae’s illness. The parcels were then opened by. Mr Cole, ■ assisted by Mrs Rae. Mr Cole returned thanks, after which “They Are Jolly Good Fellows” was sung. The function concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” DONATION OF BOOKS. Through the generosity of a patron many new books have been added to the children’s section of the library. A new Boy’s Annual and Girl’s Annual have been placed in the reading room, and may be read free of charge. Several members of the Library Committee have been engaged rearranging the books in all sections with a view to making the Institute up to date. JUVENILE CONCERT, PARTY. A euchre afternoon was held at Mrs Lowell’s home last night in aid of the Juvenile Concert Party. The winners were: Mrs Wakely, 1; Mrs Chas. Buck, 2; consolation, Mrs R. F. Watson. Mrs McGarvie was the winner of the guessing competition.
