LONDON WOOL SALES
PRICES AT CLOSE OF SERIES. (Recd This Day, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, July 22. At the wool sales 8,144 bales were offered, including 4,028 New Zealand, 7,225 were sold. Competition was again active for a moderate selection, with rates firm. Some realisations werei New Zealand greasy halfbred, 3 in circle, lOd to 113 d; slipe halfbred lambs, Fairfield, 9ld to 16d; Longburn, 12Jd. Throughout the series, 79,200 bales were offered and 68,000 were sold, including 33,000 New Zealand. The tendency throughout had a firm tone and competition was strong. Compared with the closing rates of last series, prices were from par to occasionally five per cent lower. Thirty-seven thousand bales of Australian and 28,500 of New Zealand were held over.
