DENTAL CLINIC
APPOINTMENT OF THIRD NURSE. PAYMENTS BY PARENTS’ STILL MUCH IN ARREAR. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Dental Clinic Committee was held on Thursday night, the chairman, Mr A. Donald presiding. The nurses reported on the work for June, as follows: —Total operations, 1026; new patients examined, 18; reexaminations, 137. Advice was received from the Department of Health to the effect that a third nurse would be appointed to the clinic from Monday next, July 25. The secretary was instructed to acknowledge the appointment at the same time making a recommendation to the Department, that, as soon as, in its opinion, the arrears of work were caught up, the children of St. Brides’ Convent be admitted for treatment. Members of the committee expressed the. hope that an early and favourable reply would be received. The secretary presented a statement, which showed the financial position to be a little more favourable. It was pointed out, however, that there were still a great number of parents, who had not paid their fees to the clinic. It was decided to appeal to parents to pay their clinic accounts as early as possible, owing to the fact that a third nurse had been appointed to the clinic and a further £3O per annum was necessary as the clinic's contribution to her salary. Two applications • for remission of fees were received, and in view of the circumstances of the families concerned, these were granted.
