CAPTAIN WEIDEMANN’S VISIT TO LONDON INFORMAL CONVERSATIONS RENEWED ASSURANCES OF PEACEFUL INTENT (British Official Wireless.) (Recd This Day, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, July 21. Questioned in the House of Commons regarding the visit of Herr Hitler’s aide-de-camp, Captain Weidemann, the Prime Minister (Mr N. Chamberlain) said, “In the course of his recent visit to London, Captain Weidemann had informal conversation with Viscount Halifax. Captain Weidemann. did not come prepared to discuss any particular aspect of political affairs, but the conversation enabled him, owing to his contact with authoritative circles in Germany, to renew the assurances already given by Germany of its desire to achieve a peaceful settlement of outstanding questions.”
