WEDDING
McLEAN—TOOGOOD The marriage took place at St Andrew’s Church, Langdale, on Wednesday of Eila Alice, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Toogood, of' Ngaiana, to Donald Cunningham McLean, eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. H. McLean, of Feilding. The ceremony was performed by the Vicar of Tinui, the Rev C. Dobbs. Mrs James Andrew presided at the organ. The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful frock of white lace over gold satin, cut on slimming lines, the only trimming being a bunch of orange blossom on the neckline held by a large cameo brooch which had belonged to her late grandmother. The dress fell away into a long train and the beautifully embroidered veil was caught by circlets of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of water lilies, carnations, Christmas roses and freezias, with streamers of bulbs. The bridesmaids were Miss Elizabeth Toogood, sister of the bride and Miss Olivene Laing, cousin of the bride. They were dressed alike in frocks of dull pink embossed sharkskin, with pale blue headbands, shoes and posies. They carried-- bouquets of pink camelias, cyclamen and heather and wore rhinestone necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom. The little flower girl, Anne Taylor, cousin of the bride, was dressed in pale blue georgette, blue shoes and headband and she carried a pink basket of flowers to tone. The gift of the bridegroom was a gold armlet. Mr M. McLean was best man and Mr Ivan McLean groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Miss Joyce Moodie. The reception was held at Ngaiana, the beautiful residence of Mr and Mrs Toogood, where the guests were received by Mrs Toogood who wore a frock of navy nacre-painted floral silk with hat to tone and carried a golden bouquet of violas, freezias and spring bulbs and by Mrs McLean, who wore a frock of wine silk crepe pompadour, with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of camelias and wine cyclamen. There were about ninety guests present, including many from Wellington. The bride travelled in a brown costume and peach bloom hat, with brown accessories. She also wore a brown fur -necklet, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride gave the bridegroom a wristlet watch. . r x Mr and Mrs D, C. McLean s future home will be near Feilding.
