AERO CLUB
MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club was held in the clubhouse. Hood Aerodrome, last night. In the absence of the president, Mr A. McDonald, Mr P. F. Fagan presided. Ten new members were elected and two resignations were accepted. The committee acknowledges with thanks the following donations:—Masterton Borough Council, £100; Masterton County Council, £10; Wairarapa South County Council. £l5; Greytown Borough Council, £5 ss; Featherston Borough Council. £5. The Social Committee was authorised to purchase a ping pong table, two card tables. • and additional crockery and cutlery. The flying committee was given powei’ to organise an essay competition for secondary school pupils. Prizes of free flights have been donated by Messrs E. A. Heyder, H. T. Parsons, and C. G. Cunningham. It was decided to grant £2O towards the funds of the DanneVirke Airport Association, for the current year. The club plane, ZK-ACD, which crashed some time ago, is to be written off and used for spare parts. Flying rates for dual and advanced dual were increased to 50s per hour and solo rates for the first 15 hours to 45s per hour. It was reported that the selection committee from the Air Department, Wellington, had examined a group of ten applicants for the Civil Reserve of Pilots. <* - Two applications, for the position of Pilot-Instructor were received. The appointment of a permanent instructor has not been made, but applications are at present under consideration.
