MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. At the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club, held in the new club room, Municipal Buildings, last evening, Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presided over a satisfactory attendance. Greetings and good wishes were < conveyed to the club by the secretary, Mr W. H. King, D.8.E.A., on behalf of the chief delegate for New Zealand of the International Esperanto League and editor of “La Interna Ideo,” Mr V. J. Leek, of Wellington, with whom he had conferred during the past weekend. Correspondence in Esperanto received during the week included a letter from Germany and postcards posted in the post office attached to the 34th Eucharistic Congress, held recently in Budapest, Hungary, and journals published in the international language had arrived from Holland and England. It was announced that 1301 congress members from 27 countries had joined the 30th World Congress of Esperanto which opens in London in a fortnight’s time; and that the international organisation had fixed Berne, Switzerland, as the venue of the 31st World Congress next year. Reference was also made to the recent innovation of the Esperantist movement —the inauguration of an international cradle roll, introduced undex - the auspices of the British Esperanto Association. Tuition fox - advanced and new students was provided by Mr A. Dewar and Mr W. H. King, following which reading in Esperanto were given by Mrs J. T. E. Brenkly (“Nia Afero”) and by Mi - A. Dewar (“La Pluvombrelo.”)
