ENGLISH TEAM’S TOUR. BUSH LADIES’ OUTCLASSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) EKETAHUNA, July 18. The touring English women’s hockey team inflicted a decisive defeat, 11-1, on the Bush union team at Eketahuna today in the presence of a large crowd. The visitors gave a clever display. The weather kept fine, but the ground was somewhat heavy. Nevertheless play was fast and interesting. Bush scored the opening goal, taking the visitors by surprise, but after that there was only one team in it. The English team displayed admirable combination, speed and fitness, giving Bush no chance and winning by 11 goals to 1.
For England goals were scored by Misses West (4). O’Donoghue (3), Wright (3) and Judd. For Bush F. Ngatuere scored. At half-time England led 5-1. The umpires were Misses Warwick (England) and Yeoman (Akitio).
