ODD FELLOWS
LOYAL MASTERTON LODGE. USUAL MEETING The usual meeting of the Manchester Unity Odd Fellows Lodge was held last night. Lodge members and visitors fully considered the special report of Dominion Council of Friendly Societies on the delegates’ statements, questions and replies, at the Select Committee of the House, appointed during the last session of Parliament to examine the Governments proposals regarding the National Health and Superannuation Service. Lodge members appreciated the action of the Dominion Council of Friendly Societies in forwarding such a comprehensive report and passed a vote of thanks to the delegates Bros W. J. Gregory and A. G. Shrimpton for their able statements on behalf of Friendly Societies. A clearance from Lodge Papatoetoe Lodge was finalised and surrender values received from the Auckland District. It was reported that on Saturday last the Wairarapa Odd Fellows football team, organised by' the Masterton Lodge, played the .Hawke’s Bay Odd Fellows, under the auspices of the Loyal Dannevirke Lodge at Dannevirke, for the Quigley Shield, and the game resulted in a draw 3 all. An invitation to attend the Golden Jubilee of Loyal Dannevirke Lodge, was accepted by several members. The function will be held on July 30 and July 31. Bro R. Baikie, P.G., reported on a visit to the Eketahuna Lodge, and requested all Past' Grands to attend the Past Grands’ Lodge on Thursday, July 28 at Carterton. It was decided that the Lodge hold a dance in the Masonic Hall on Saturday night, July 23. After the meeting lodge members played bowls. N.G. Bro F. Knowles and Trustee Bro F. H. Wright were the skips, the former team winning. Several matters of importance to members will be discussed at the quarterly meeting of the-lodge, in August.
