BUTTER PRICES HIGHER ON LONDON MARKET After an active demand in the middle of the week, the London butter market was firm at higher prices at the close, says a cabled report received by the Primary Products Marketing Department. Friday’s closing prices, with those for the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: Salted, 121 s to 1225, ex 123 s (121 s a year ago, 115 s); unsalted, 122 s to 123 s (122 s to 1235; a year ago, 115 s). Australian: Salted, 119 s to 120 s, ex 121 s (119 s unsalted, 120 s, ex. 122 s (120 s to 121 s). Danish: 103 s f.0.b.; 123 s spot (101 s 122 s to 1235). Dutch: Unsalted', 110 s to 113 s (110 s to 113 s). Lithuanian: Salted, 115 s (112 s to 114 s); unsalted, 114 s to 116 s (112 s to 114 s). Retail prices are unchanged, New Zealand and Danish at Is 3d a lb. Deliveries 'of New Zealand butter last week were 1585 tons. The quantity in store, including 45 tons ex the Maimoa, was 7487 tons, as compared with 4892 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter were 845 tons, the quantity remaining in store being 4554 tons, as against 6084 tons a year ago. The cheese market was firm last week. Friday’s closing prices, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were'as follows: —■ New Zealand: White and coloured, ’69s 6d to 70s (68s 6d; a year ago, white 72s to 72s 6d, coloured 70s). Australian: White, G6s to 68s (65s to 675); coloured, 66s 6d to 68s (65s to 675). ~ Canadian: White, 78s to 80s (78s to 80s); coloured, 79s to 80s (78s to 80s); c.i.f., 69s 6d (695). , English: Finest farmers’, 102 s 6d to 104 s 6d; factory cheese, 66s (65s to 665). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 20,320 crates. The quantity in store was 76,972 crates, as against 46,673 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese were 4553 boxes, the quantity in store being 65,085 boxes, against 72,218 boxes a year ago.
