RAILWAY STOCK YARDS

IN DISGRACEFUL CONDITION ACTION BY BOROUGH COUNCIL “The yards are certainly in a disgraceful condition,” said the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, last night, referring to the stock loading yards at the Masterton Railway Station. Mr Jordan said the Borough Inspector had written to the General Manager of Railways about the yards, but his reply had not been satisfactory. The actual yards, said the Mayor, had been worn down below the level of the surrounding country, and something should be done about it. , The council agreed that the General z Manager should be requested to send a responsible officer to Masterton to meet the members of the Works Committee with a view to having the nuisance abated. Council H. E. Gardner said he had brought the matter up three years ago, but nothing was done.
