SOME USEFUL HINTS. TAKE YOUR LINES IN HAND EARLY. The motto for a woman of twentyfive and onwards should be: “Take your lines in hand in time! ...” Then at thirty-five you will not have to give yourself over to an expert for arduous treatment that can never really Banish deep-seated lines. Here is a routine to follow that really will help your pores to live and breathe freely again. On alternate nights a “deep pore” cleansing oil and lotion; and on other nights you can still use your own particular pet cream. Always keep by you a bottle of oil of arachis, and mix with the juice of half a lemon. Apply with a pad of cotton wool, and be sure to use an “upward” movement. Now a fresh piece of cotton-wool, please, and a second cleanse, for you will be amazed at how much unsuspected “dirt” has emerged from those trapped pores! Having thoroughly cleansed and fed the skin with this treatment, do refrain from any form of experimental massage. Unless you have had professional instruction, you will do more harm than good. But as the skin is apt to suffer from indigestion unless stimulated ... let us take our lines in time by “patting” and “tapping” the face smartly to revive the circulation. So here is your second routine! As, we hope, most oF us are given to laughter, it is certain that our first lines will appear when we smile! To counteract this, “tap” briskly, using the middle finger, from the chin upwards. Let this be in a semi-circle till you reach under the nostrils. Then tap your way back again. . . This will stimulate the bloodstream and circumvent that certain “sallowness’’ which is apt to descend on the region around the mouth.

Second position is along the jawbone, finishing under the eyes. Follow your bone formation and you can’t go wrong. Always smoothe the eyes “inwards" towards the bridge of the nose. This prevents pulling the skin in the wrong direction. Now, finally, slap the cheeks smartly until the skin is tingling and glowing. Don’t be timid. It won’t hurt in the least if rhythmically done. It is amazing how quickly a little slapping and tapping exercise will improve a face that has an early tendency to show these smiling lines.
