ST. MATTHEW’S COLLEGE

CHILDREN’S PARTY. AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. The Assembly Hall at St Matthew’s Collegiate School for Girls was crowded on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being the annual children’s party. Most of the children were in fancy dress, and the scene, with balloons suspended at various points of the room, was a very attractive one. A large number of parents were present. The function was carried out by the Parents’ Association, who are to be congratulated on the complete arrangements made for the enjoyment of the children, and the success of their efforts. The Principal, Mrs Cleghorn, welcomed the parents of the children and visitors to the party, and saw to their comfort, while the members of the Parents’ Association were most attentive to their guests. Miss Milne had charge of the party and carried out her duties in an excellent manner. The music for the games and dances was played by Mr B. Iveson. A number of the children gave recitations, and their efforts showed careful and skilful, instruction. Afternoon tea was supplied by the Parents’ Association, and each child was presented with a balloon. A number of pupils of the school and Old Girls assisted at the gathering.
