FLYING-BOATS COLLIDE
EMPIRE AIRWAYS CRAFT. MISHAP AT INDIAN WAYPORT. LONDON, July 17. Two Imperial Airways flying-boats, reported to be the Cooee and the Coris, collided today, when mooring at Sharjah (India). The Coris was bound for Karachi and the Cooee was bound east. Both machines are out of commission. Passengers, crews and mails were unharmed, but the wings of the machines were damaged. A relief plane has taken all the passengers and mails to Karachi, and when it arrives further details will be available. RELIEF ARRANGEMENTS. "PLANES ONLY SUPERFICIALLY DAMAGED. (Recd This Day, 9.55 a.m.) KARACHI, July 17. Five passengers and mails aboard the east-bound flying-boat Corio were brought here by the Circe and are continuing their journey tomorrow. A relief plane from Alexandria, which has arrived as Basra and is expected at Sharjah in the evening, is taking on west-bound passengers and mails tomorrow. The colliding planes were moored alongside when a violent gust of wind drove the wings together, causing superficial damage.
