DETTON BEATS MEEHAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 17. Dean Detton, former holder of the world wrestling championship, gave a sample of his ability when he beat Pat Meehan in an eight-round contest at the Town Hall on Saturday night. Although'he won by only one fall, Detton was obviously the better man. The speed with which he applied and countered holds exceeded anything previously witnessed in Auckland. EXCITING BOUT. WIN FOR BLOMFIELD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 17. Blomfield defeated Kennedy by two falls to one in an exciting wrestling bout Kennedy gained .the first fall with a press following dumps. Blomfield took a fall with the octopus clamp, and so disabled Kennedy that he gained an easy deciding fall in the next round.
