Miss J. Sellar, Lansdowne, is spending the weekend in Palmerston North. Mrs McCracken, Villa Street, Masterton, has been staying with Mrs E. Foreman, Gladstone. Mrs Bloxam, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs J. Berney, Pownall Street, Masterton. Mrs B. D. Holmwood, Lincoln Road, Masterton, is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs J. Cherry, Palmerston North. Miss ' Mary Monro, Feilding, is spending the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs C. C. Monro, King Edward Street, Lansdowne. Mrs W. Cooper and Miss J. Cooper, Renal! Street, Masterton, are visiting Gladstone, where they will spend several weeks. Miss Elsie Andrews, chairwoman of the New Zealand committee of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association, arrived at Christchurch yesterday. Miss Eila Toogood, whose marriage will take place shortly, was the guest of honour recently at a gift party given by Mrs James Andrew, “lea,” Tinui. More than 50 guests were present and the evening was spent in playing monopoly and 500. Miss Phyllis Robertson, of New Plymouth, and formerly of Masterton, sailed by the Awatea recently for Sydney. She is on her way to Brisbane to do research work on a cotton pegt for the Egyptian Government. She was accompanied to Wellington by her mothe'r, Mrs Athol Robertson. Mrs J. C. Wickham, Wanganui, was yesterday elected Dominion president of the Woman’s Division of the Farmers’ Union at the annual- conference, which concluded at Wellington yesterday. She has been a vice-president for eight years and was for several years president of the Wanganui Girls’ College Old Girls’ Association. Miss Betty Coleman, Masterton, was hostess recently at a gift evening at her home for Miss Nesta Woodhouse, whose wedding will take place shortly. The party took the form of a kitchen evening. On another evening Mips Woodhouse and her fiance, Mr Ninnes, were presented with a gift of cutlery by fellow-members of the St Matthew’s Badminton Club. Probably the oldest white woman in New Zealand, Mrs Emma Harries, Cargill Road, ■ South Dunedin, will celebrate her 104th birthday on Monday with a quiet gathering of her relatives and the cutting of a birthday cake. Although her hearing is not very good, Mrs Harries bears the burden of her, years remarkably well. She has a surprisingly fresh complexion and her eyes have still a sparkle. She enjoys doing little domestic tasks. ENGAGEMENTS. The engagement is announced of Christina Judith, only daughter of Mrs and the late Mr N. G. Munro, of Dannevirke, to Lionel Hector, only son of Mr and Mrs S. B. Wightman, of Temuka, South Canterbury. The engagement is announced of Evelyn Nancy, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Styles, Renall Street, Masterton, to John W. Bevan, eldest son of Mrs H, Sutcliffe, Marton. GREVTOWN Miss Eager, - who, with Mrs Beu, represented the Greytown branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union at the annual conference in Wellington, has taken a very active part in the affairs of the branch, always giving her services willingly to further the obje’ets for which the Division stands. Those associated with the Women’s Division of the N.Z. farmers’ Union in the Wairarapa appreciate the fact that Mrs R. W. Beu, of Greytown, has been elected a member of the Dominion Advisory Board. Mrs Beu has always taken a very keen interest in the affairs of the Division and her advice should be of considerable value to the board.

Mrs Barry has left for Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Robson, Stratford, who have been visiting Mrs Harkness, have left for Ashburton.
