FOREST RANGERS

WAIRARAPA APPOINTMENTS. The Forestry Department has recently appointed Messrs B. lorns, F. West and B. Morris, all of Masterton, as hon- ' orary rangers for the Wellington Forestry District. These appointments have been made with a view to helping the Department to check some of the indiscriminate fire lighting which destroyed so much State Forest last summer, and also to try to prevent the reckless shooting, interference with huts, signs, and native birds that is taking place. The new rangers are all active members of the Wairarapa Tramping Club, and should be of considerable assistance in ensuring the protection of the forest.
