COURSING

WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING. DRAW FOR TOMORROW’S EVENTS. Tomorrow the Wairarapa Coursing Club will hold another of its popular meetings. It will be remembered that for the last few coursing events hardly a hare has been killed so that the club has a team of veteran hares that defy the efforts of the greyhounds to catch them before reaching the escapes. The open stakes on Saturday for the silver cup presented by Mr Steve Cooper has drawn a somewhat smaller entry than the maiden, but every dog entered is a previous stake winner and a number of them are contesting the New Zealand Waterloo Cup at Invercargill. The maiden stakes (limited to 16 dogs) has filled to the limit and a good afternoon’s coursing will result from this event alone. A number of outside dogs are entered, many of these being crack speed course (“tin hare”) performers. The first event will start at 1.15 p.m. and afternoon tea will be available on the ground.

x The following is the draw for both events:—

Maiden Stakes (Kerslake trophy):— Aristocrat (Wellington) v Paper Rule (Napier); Just a Flash (Masterton) v Bonny Sovereign (Wellington); Gold Boa (Carterton) v Dark Hazard (Taueru); Boston Bill (Napier) v Gold Rod (Carterton); Queen of Diamonds (Wellington) v Annie Laurie (Napier); Bonny Doone (imp) (Napier) v Cute Miss (Wellington); See Pot (Wellington) v British Pride (Masterton); Thunderbolt (Masterton) v Full o’ Gay (Wellington). Open Stakes (Steve Cooper Challenge Cup):—Lady Hurley (Carterton) v Golden King (Masterton); Mungi Taipo (Wanganui) v White Gold (Napier); The Clipper (Masterton) v Peter Palu (Wellington); Mosquito Boy (Wanganui) a bye.
