MARTINBOROUGH
FIRE BRIGADE SOCIAL. (“Times-Age’ Special.) A most enjoyable time was spent in the Oddfellows’ Hall last night when the local Fire Brigade held a social. Brigadesmen were present from Masterton, Greytown, Featherston, Upper Hutt and Carterton. The following toast list was honoured: —“The King”; “U.F.8.A.” (Secretary Clarke —Mr O’Riley); D.U.F.8.A.” (Mr H. Matson —Mr B. Boston); “Borough Council” (Supt. W. O. Hewitson —the Mayor); “Power Board and P. and T.” (Foreman R. Feist —Messrs Pike and Cotter); “The Visitors” (De-puty-Supt. Duffy); “The Ladies” (Fireman G. Cotter —Mr P. Lynch); “The Entertainers” (Foreman R. Wright; “The Press” (Fireman E. Findlay—Mr Michell). Items were given by Messrs Kiddie and McLennan. During the evening Supt. Hewitson was presented with a gold bar, Fireman Findlay with his eleventh bar, Fireman Wright with his third bar, and Fireman Cotter with a three years’ certificate.
