ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening, Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presiding over a good attendance. During the business session, which preceded the usual weekly tuition, it was decided to accept the offer of the Masterton Borough Council to grant the club the use of a room in the Municipal Building and the secretary was authorised to arrange with the Town Clerk accordingly. A new member was enrolled and the secretary reported the receipt during the week of journals in,Esperanto from Spain and Belgium. Copies of the New,Zealand Esperanto magazine, “La Interna Ideo,” published monthly at Wellington were also acknowledged. The Dominion' Secretary, Mr W. H. King, D.8.E.A., in his weekly address to members, outlined the recognition given Esperanto by several postal administrations abroad, particularly Brazil, U.S.S.R., Austria, Hungary, Holland and Esthonia. These and other countries have already issued bilingual postage-stamps (in the national and international languages) and illustrated postcards with descriptions in Esperanto text. Issues of such stamps from Brazil and postal stationery from Austria were displayed and attracted much interest.
