COUNTY RATES

POSITION OF MASTERTON COUNCIL. INCREASE'ON LAST YEAR. The total rates levied by the Masterton County Council for the current year show an increase of £2,341 Ils 9d over the figures for 1937-38, stated tha clerk, Mr J. C. D. Mackley, at yesterday's meeting of the council. The figures, Mr Mackley added, were as follow, the corresponding ones for 1937-38 being shown in parenthesis:— Opaki Riding £4,969 13s 3d (£4,571 17s 10); Rangitaumau Riding £4,365 12s lid (£3,745 6s sd); Upper Taueru Riding £3,078 16s 3d (£2,809 15s Id); Te Whiti Riding £3,563 14s 9d (£2,685 13s 8d); Uriti Riding £5,279 3s lid (£5,453 18s 2d); Wainuioru Riding I £4,686 18s Id (£4,335 16s 3d); Totals £25,943 19s 2d (£23,602 7s sd). Summary: 1938-39 £25,943 19s 2d; 1937-38 £23,602 7s sd; Increase over ( 1937-38 £2,341 Ils 9d.
