TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
4 MEETING IN MASTERTON.
The monthly meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall yesterday afternoon. The president (Mrs W. H. Judd) presided over an excellent attendance of members, and suitably welcomed new members and friends.
Some discussion took place on remits for the annual council meeting to be held in Wellington in September, Mesdames Judd and Burke were appointed delegates to the meeting. Mrs A. Stubbings held the interest of all during her 10 minutes travel talk on “Cape Kidnappers.” Mrs A. Barns played two much-ap-preciated pianoforte solos. A demonstration on “Basket Work” was given by Mr C. R. Boys, who explained fully this interesting handicraft, and displayed some excellent examples of finished goods. At the conclusion of his address Mr Boys was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The display of photos concerning royalty attracted much attention on the exhibition table, the large collection loaned by Miss Ibbetson being particularly interesting. A buffet afternoon tea and the singing of the Guild Ode brought the meeting to a close.
