GOLF TEAMS SUCCESSFUL (“Times-Age” Special.) The Carterton golf teams were successful against Martinborough on Saturday. At Martinborough the A team played a four-ball match and won by 2> games to IJ. At Taratahi the B team played a two-some and won by 7 games to 1. The individual results were as, follows: —Carterton being mentioned first in each case: — A team: —Goodwin and Dudson lost to Harvey and Martin; Booth and George beat Pike and Perry; Fisher and Lawrence beat Franks and Seivers; Taylor and Whitburn, all square, Wall and Rankin. B team: —J. Steel beat C. C. Moore; W. Moroney lost to M. F. McLeod; G. Brown beat D. R. Matheson; G. Hart beat W. Jury; D. L. Taverner beat H. O. Pike; G. Riggs beat L. Chapman; B. Beaven beat H. W. Blundell; G. G. Reynolds beat W. J. Knell. The best cards returned in a Stableford competition played on the Taratahi Links were: —N. Fitzgerald, 12-24, 36; A. Krahagen, 19-15, 34; H. Colson, 20-12, 32; W. H. Booth, 19-12, 31; F. L. Barr, 15-15, 30; J. B. Lawrence, 16-14, 30. P.W.M.U. MEETING. At the annual meeting or the Carterton branch of the P.W.M.U. the financial report showed a credit balance of £4l, which was allocated to the various missions schemes. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Peters; vice-presidents, Miss Moncrieff, Mesdames Every, Byers and Madden; secretary, Mrs J. Fisher; treasurer, Mrs G? Brown; harvest field, Mrs McPherson; M.M.8.L., Mrs Harris; Oriental secretary, Mrs Tankersley; corresponding secretary, Miss Harvey; tea secretary, Mrs Leitch; prayer and study circle, Mrs Every; pianist, Mrs Brown. The Rev. W. H. Howes addressed the meeting on his recent visit to the Maori Mission -fields. WAIRARAPA ELECTORATE. The main roll in connection with the Wairarapa Electorate contains 9,327 names. The main roll in 1935 contained 9047 names and the supplementary roll 2045 names. It is anticipated that the supplementary roll this year will be much larger than was the case in 1935. LABOUR PARTY SOCIAL. There was a fair attendance at the social held by the La"bour Party, on Saturday night. The supper was in charge of Mesdames Green, Anderson, Benge and O’Berg. The first prizes in the euchre tournament were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs Whitehead, 1; Mrs Grimstone, 2. Men: Mr J. Finn, 1; Mr H. Goodin, 2. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Dix and Mr Bambry.
