A block of 20 acres of land near Thule, Stewart Island, has been purchased by Mr George M. Turner of Raroa, Stewart Island, from Mr Jules Tapper. Mr Turner, who takes a keen interest in the native plant and bird life of the island, will suitably fence this portion of unspoilt native bush to protect it and he intends to hand it over to a responsible public body to be kept as a permanent scenic reserve and park for the use of the public for all time.
