ITALY’S DIGNITY
PROPOSAL TO DENOUNCE PACT WITH BRITAIN ANGER OVER CONTINUED DELAY THE PROGRESS OF EVENTS IN SPAIN By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON. July 11. The British United Press correspondent at Rome says it is learned from a trustworthy Italian source that a number of extreme Fascist officials, with whom Count Ciano and Signor Starace are sympathetic, are urging Signor Mussolini to denounce the Anglo-Ital-ian Pact, on the ground that it is beneath Italy’s dignity to further await Britain’s approval of events in Spain. It is understood that Signor Mussolini is considering this step if the delay in implementation is too lengthy, but that he has not yet abandoned hope that Mr Neville Chamberlain will find a way of operating the agreement without awaiting the effective functioning of non-intervention.
