Reached More Than the Fire.

One night recently was the coldest this winter at New Plymouth, and for one man it was particularly uncomfortable. He is a mechanic in a garage, and when he was working on a car that was above the pit the vehicle caught fire. Immediately he warned his colleagues, and one of them rushed forward with two buckets of water which he hastily poured on to the incipient conflagration. Most of the water, however, descended on the mechanic.
