SECOND FORMATION FLIGHT RECORD MIDDLESEX TO FRANCE IN 66 MINUTES. OTHER PLANES IN COMPANY. (British Official Wireless). RUGBY, July 9. The Air Ministry announces that, folowing on the record non-stop flight of four Vickers Wellesley machines from Cranwell (Lincolnshire) to Ismalia (Egypt), a distance of 4300 miles, a second formation flight record was established last night, when 11 R.A.F. Hurricane Fighters flew 235 miles in adverse weather from Northolt (Middlesex) to Le Bourget (France) in one hour six minutes. In addition to the Hurricanes seven other planes made the journey. There were 11 Hurricanes, which are the fastest fighters in the R.A.F., four Gloucester Gladiators, two Avro Anson aircraft and one Valentia troopcarrier.
