A man went to sign on at the Labour Exchange, and the clerk asked him how he came to be out of work. “Oh,” replied the man, “Ah geet mad wi’ t’ boss.” “What for?” asked the clerk. “Why,” was the reply, “he said A’d stolen 10 pounds.” “And why didn’t you make him prove it?” persisted the clerk. “He did prove it,” replied the man, “that’s why Ah gets so mad.”
