FEATHERSTON
WOMEN’S DIVISION.
(“Times-Age” Special) A meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Friday afternoon when there was a fair attendance of members. Mrs Wakely presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Cundy, Carter, Brandon, Bockett, Sharp and Luke-Smith. During the afternoon competitions were held, the following being the results: —Flowering shrubs, Mrs Wakely 1 and 3, Mrs Charles 2. Cut flowers, Mrs Wakely 1 and 3, Mrs Rae 2. Shoulder spray, Miss Viles. Best article made from sugar bags, Mrs Boston. The judges were Mrs Quentin Donald and Miss Card.
Mrs Wakely invited members of the Gardening Circle to a pruning demonstration to be held at her residence on July 22. It was decided that the competition to be held at the next meeting be for the best three plain scones and three bran gems and biscuits from all bran. The tea hostesses were Miss Card and Mesdames Brophy and Rae. GOLF CLUB COMPETITION. The third round of the Stableford competition (for Mr Lang’s trophy) held on Saturday resulted as follows: W. Rowles 30—2—32, receives 3 points; W. Crawford 26—3—29, receives 2 points; D. Carlyon 10—18—28, receives 1 point. The inter-club competition with Greytown will be held next Saturday, the first eight at Featherston, and the second eight at Greytown. PERSONAL. Mrs E. Simm, who has lately not enjoyed the best of health, is spending a holiday in Auckland. Mr and Mrs Allen, Melbourne, who' have been spending a holiday at the Empite as the guests of Mrs Sim, returned to Australia by the Monterey on Friday.
