DEPENDENCE FOR LIVELIHOOD ON CARS,
CANCELLATION OF HAWKER’S ’ LICENCE CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. “The time when people who depend for their livelihood on their cars cpuld put that fact forward as an excuse is gone," said Mr E. C. Lewy, S.M., this morning in fining Samuel Francis Garland, a fruit hawker, aged 52, £l5 for being intoxicated in charge of a motor car. Garland’s licence was cancelled, and he was declared unfit to hold another until June 1, 1939. Counsel said Garland depended on his’car for his livelihood and was prepared to take out a prohibition order.
