General situation: An anti-cyclone is centred over the Bay of Plenty and a very extensive one covers southeastern Australia. A shallow depression has, however, developed over the Tasman Sea and is now moving on to the Dominion. Forecast: Light to moderate but freshening northerly winds, backing after about 24 Hours to southerly. Weather fair to fine at first but cloud increasing and lader scattered rain developing. MASTERTON WEATHER. RECORD FOR JUNE. Miss A. M. Brown (observer) reports as follows for June (the figures for the corresponding montih in 1937 being given in parentheses-):—Pres-sure, highest, 30.61 on June 215 (30.58), lowest, <29.50 on 30th (29.66). Temperatures, absolute shade maxinsum 63.8 deg. on June 1 (68.7), minimum 25.7 on 7th (26.3). The range was thus 38.1 (42.4). Mean temperature, 45.9' (43.3). Absolute grass minimum, 17.6 (18.4). Average grass minimum, 29.0 (29.9). Average temperature at 1 foot underground, 46.8 (45.3). Days of frost, 21 (18); fog, 12 (8); gale, 1 (0). Total rainfall, 3.06 in. on 18 days (3.74). Greatest fall 94 points on June 22 (78). Total sunshine, 123.4 hours (107.8 hours); daily average, 4.1 hours; (3.59). Wind run, 1915 miles (1933 miles); daily average, 63.8 (64.4).
