LONDON QUOTATIONS LAMB MARKET EASIER Lamb market: Prices for second quality and prime heavyweights easier; others steady. Consumption continues satisfactory. Mutton market: Wethers easier, owing to heavy supplies and slow trade; ewes, lightweights steady, with others easier. Beef market: Chilled beef, better prices owing to lighter supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Trade slow with heavyweights weaker. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market steady and unchanged. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices ar6 averages of the week, on which this list is issued. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. RETAIL PRICES FOR JUNE The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has been advised by its London Office, that the following retail prices were being quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed in London during June. These prices represent a fair average of the prices quoted by the better class shops in London for the best quality of New Zealand lamb and mutton: — New Zealand Lamb: legs, 12d per lb, shoulders, lid per lb, loins, lid per lb. necks, 6d per lb, breasts 3d per lb, forequarters, 83d per lb, hindquarters lid per lb. New Zealand Mutton (wethers): — Legs, 9Jd per lb, shoulders, 83d per lb, loins 8-Sd per lb, necks, 3d per lb, breasts, 2d per lb. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated July 7: —Frozen meat quotations (prices on a delivered basis, i.e., including storage, charges, cartage, market tolls, etc.) are as follow: — North Island Down lambs, 28/361bs„ 73d; 36/42, 7Jd. Best North Island crossbred lambs,- 28/36, 7 3-8 d; 36/42, 7 3-Bd. North Island second quality lambs, average 30/31, 6 7-Bd. Best North Island wether sheep, under 48, 53d; 48/56, 5 3-8 d; 56/64, 5 l-8d; 64/72, 4 7-Bd. North Island ewes, under 48, 4d; 48/56, 3J-d; 56/64, 33d; 64/72, 3 l-Bd. Compared with last week’s quotations, Down lambs, 28/3Glbs. and second quality lambs, l-8d lower. Wethers, all grades, l-8d per lb. lower. Ewes, 56/721b5., l-8d per lb. lower. Others unchanged.
